Nagrody IWSC 2021 przyznane

W tegorocznej edycji konkursu International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) wyłoniono ponad 37 zwycięzców nagrody głównej oraz ponad 140 laureatów w kategorii Szkockiej Whisky.

IWSC to coroczny konkurs z kategorii win i napojów spirytusowych. Organizacja została założona w 1969 roku przez niemiecko-brytyjskiego enologa, Antona Massela. Pierwotna nazwa Club Oenologique przekształciła się z biegiem lat w obecną nazwę International Wine and Spirit Competition.

IWSC to obecnie największy konkurs alkoholowy na świecie. Organizatorzy otrzymują próbki do oceny z ponad 86 krajów na świecie. W konkursie bierze udział ponad 250 sędziów z całego świata, którzy oceniają tysiące win i alkoholi w 1500 różnych kategoriach. Alkohole oceniane są w 100-punktowej skali i przyznawane są według klasyfikacji: Gold Outstanding (98-100 punktów), Złoto (95-97 punktów), Srebro (90-94 punkty) i Brąz (85-89 punktów).

Ponad 30 złotych medali przypadło whisky typu single malt, natomiast whisky typu blended wygrała 7 złotych statuetek.

Ceny nagrodzonych butelek wahają się od kilkudziesięciu złotych (Ben Bracken, Lidl) do kilku tysięcy złotych (Bunnahabhain 25 YO, Master of Malt). Niektóre z nagrodzonych pozycji są dostępne wyłącznie w sektorze travel retail, a część z nich ma trafić finalnie do szerszej dystrybucji.

W przeciwieństwie do zeszłorocznych ocen, w których producenci z regionu Speyside niemal całkowicie zgarnęli medale Gold Outstanding, tegoroczne wyniki były bardziej zrównoważone – nagrodzone zostały wszystkie kluczowe regiony produkujące whisky w Szkocji.
